Current software on a website that looked dated

SolusVM is the platform hosting providers use to run virtual private servers. It is part of the WebPros family alongside cPanel and Plesk, and reports more than 64,000 production deployments worldwide.

Technical buyers read a dated website as a sign of a dated product, and the site had not kept up with the software. We rebuilt it as a set of parts the marketing team can use, with separate routes for people who want to try it and people who need to talk to sales.

01 The challenge

A dated website made current software look old

Hosting providers are buying reliability, and a site that looks years old answers that question badly before anyone reads a specification. There was a second problem. Two very different people landed on the same pages: one wanted a trial today with no conversation, the other was buying for a large estate and needed specifications, licensing and a person. A single call to action served neither of them.

02 The idea

A VPS platform website as current as the software

For infrastructure buyers, a current website is evidence that the product is still being worked on. Two prototypes settled the structure before anything was built. The features page now leads with one line, Manage VPS. Control All. Simplify Ops., then works through hypervisor support and a comparison table, in the order a technical buyer would test it. The free trial page does the same for someone ready to start.

03 Two routes

Two buyers, two routes through the site

Self-serve and enterprise buyers want opposite things from the same page, so the routes were separated. A provider can start a 30-day free trial and reach the panel without talking to anyone, with no credit card needed. A team buying for a large estate gets specifications, licensing and a direct route to a person. The Product menu puts Getting Started and the free trial side by side.

04 The system

A modular website design system marketing can assemble

Marketing needed to build pages without design support, so the answer was a kit of parts. More than 25 modular components hold the layout rules, so new pages and campaigns come together without a design queue and stay consistent as the product moves on. The homepage, pricing, features, solutions and free trial pages are all built from the same blocks, on desktop and on phones.

05 Pricing

VPS pricing a buyer can work out without a quote

On the pricing page a buyer picks a Management Node plan, adds the compute resources they need and watches a yearly summary update next to Buy Now. It answers the first question a technical buyer has, what this will cost for an estate like theirs, with no spreadsheet or sales call. The free trial card sits at the top of the same page for anyone not ready to buy.

FAQs

Questions about VPS platform website design

SolusVM is the control panel hosting providers use to deploy and manage virtual servers at scale, part of WebPros alongside cPanel and Plesk. We redesigned its website: structure, prototypes, interface design and a modular system of components that the marketing team now uses to build pages without design support.

Infrastructure buyers read a dated interface as evidence about the product behind it. SolusVM had shipped continuously for a decade, but its site suggested otherwise. We brought the site level with the software, so the first impression a buyer gets now matches the product they will actually be running.

We split the routes. A provider who wants to try it today can reach a free trial and the panel without talking to anyone. A team buying for a large estate gets specifications, licensing terms and a direct route to a person. The Product menu shows both options together.

Buyers choose a Management Node plan, add the compute resources they need and see a yearly summary update before Buy Now. It works the same on desktop and phones, so a technical buyer can cost an estate without opening a spreadsheet or asking for a quote.

Yes. The homepage, pricing, features, solutions and free trial pages are all assembled from the same set of modular components. The system holds the layout rules, so marketing can launch new pages and campaigns without a design queue and the site stays consistent as the product changes.
