Why control panels
Renewals are decided in the panel
A customer reads your website once and uses your control panel every week. They judge the whole company by it. Long-lived hosting software tends to grow one feature at a time. The same job can end up looking different from one screen to the next. We have spent nearly four years designing for the hosting industry. We have run UX, UI and product projects for a global host, from the information architecture through every state. We designed a 2025 concept for the WHMCS admin, built from four page types. And we designed the Control Panel app Air Landline customers use every day. The job is the same each time. Make a panel full of capability read as one product. Engineers keep every feature, and customers find the one they came for.
What we design
What sits behind the login
Domains, DNS, email and the services a customer pays for, arranged around the jobs they come to do. The heart of our product design work.

Panels, dashboards and client areas
Control panel, dashboard and client area UX design
Grid is a product design agency for hosting and infrastructure software. We design the control panels and client areas customers manage their services in, and the admin dashboards hosting staff work in all day.
Every project starts with the information architecture. Domains, DNS, email, billing, upgrades and onboarding are mapped before visual design begins. So is every state around them: empty, loading, error, partial and permission denied.
The handover is a documented component library with tokens named against your code. Your engineers build the panel from the same parts we designed, and new screens are assembled from them after we have gone.
What we have built
Built behind the login
Product projects for a global host
Several UX, UI and product projects for one of the largest hosting brands in the world, from the information architecture through every state. Some of it sits behind logins and NDAs, so we walk through it on a call.
WHMCS admin concept
A 2025 concept for the WHMCS admin. Insights, customers, invoices, products and a marketplace, rebuilt from four page types: overview, list, detail and form. Light and dark themes share one set of colour tokens. Never built. Read the concept.
Air Landline Control Panel
The app small businesses use to manage calls, voicemail, opening hours and routing. Every task sits one tap from the dashboard, voicemails arrive with a word-by-word transcript, and Saturday hours are set in a single sheet. See Air Landline.
SolusVM, WebPros
The virtualisation control panel hosting providers use to run VPS at scale. We redesigned its website. A 30-day free trial now reaches the panel without a conversation, and buyers cost an estate on screen. See SolusVM.
“Working with Sy has meant that everything that was done was backed with science, a strong review process, and deep understanding of the sector we are in (Web Hosting).”

FAQs
What hosts ask about control panels
Yes. UX, UI and product projects for a global host, and a 2025 concept for the WHMCS admin. We also designed the Air Landline Control Panel app. Some of this work sits behind logins and NDAs, and we can walk you through it on a call.
Usually, yes. We rebuild the architecture underneath the screens so your team can ship the new version in stages while the old one keeps running. Most of our product work is on live products with real users.
Only your product. We arrive knowing what a hypervisor, a DNS record and a reseller account are. We read your docs and your changelog, and ask about the parts that are yours.
Yes, and we design it alongside the light theme. In the WHMCS concept, charts, tables and invoices keep their contrast and hierarchy in both themes. Revenue today stays the brightest thing on the screen.
A component library with tokens named against your code, every state specified, usage rules and a version history. We book time to stay on hand while they build.
Twelve weeks for a full product engagement, from discovery to handover. A design system on its own is closer to five weeks. You get the date at proposal stage, before you commit to anything.
