A logo tool founders could trust on day one
Freelogo is HostPapa’s free AI logo maker. HostPapa looks after more than 500,000 website owners, and Freelogo is for the newest of them: founders who need a logo on day one and cannot yet afford a designer.
Other AI logo tools had taught founders to expect generic marks, and a prompt box that only rewards people who already know what to type. We designed the product, its assistant and the website around one aim: a logo founders would be proud to put on an invoice.

01 The challenge
An AI logo maker in a category people had stopped trusting
Most AI logo tools make people choose. A fast result they cannot change, or a wall of controls they do not have the words for. Both end the same way: a templated mark a competitor could make the same afternoon. Founders arrive expecting junk, so Freelogo had to win that trust back on the first screen, before anyone had typed a word.

02 The idea
AI logo design that starts with plain words
Nobody should have to learn prompt writing to get a usable logo. Freelogo asks for a business name and an industry, and Opi, the assistant inside it, does the translating. On the homepage Opi thinks while four logos fan out. In the editor it rebuilds a logo letter by letter when someone presses Regenerate. Opi suggests and the founder decides, so the result still feels like theirs.

03 Control
Speed and control in the same editor
A founder in a hurry gets a logo in seconds and never meets a setting. Someone who wants more finds fonts, weight, width and colour at the point they go looking, with Opi offering colours that suit the mark. Control also means going back. In the business card editor, a chat request turns a pink landscape card into a dark portrait one, and Undo brings it back in one step.

The work speaks for itself.

04 The website
A logo maker website that starts working on the homepage
The marketing site sells the product by using it. The homepage form is the logo maker itself, so a visitor types a business name and sees logos before reading a single feature. The files come as PNG, JPG, EPS and SVG, ready for print or screen. The banner that closes the page asks for one thing only: Start creating free.
05 Beyond the logo
From a logo to a brand a small business can use
A logo is the start. The same mark carries into business cards, with the same assistant and the same controls in every editor, and onto t-shirts, hoodies and hats. The Launch, Manage and Grow cards show founders where Freelogo is heading next: a brand kit, domains and websites, then billing and marketing. It gives people a reason to come back after the first logo is saved.

06 The system
A product design system for every generated logo
An AI tool that can make endless variations needs firmer rules than a fixed product does. Components, states and rules for type, colour and spacing keep every generated logo and business card consistent and ready to export. That system is what lets the output hold together in every format a small business needs, from a favicon to a printed card.

Questions about AI product design
Freelogo is an AI logo and brand identity platform owned by HostPapa, built for founders and small teams who need a brand on day one and cannot yet afford a designer. It replaced LogoMaker, HostPapa's product from an earlier era. Grid Design designed the product, its AI workflows, the design system and the website.
Mostly through the interface. Freelogo lets a novice get a good result without learning anything, lets an expert steer the output without hitting a ceiling, and shows enough of its working that the result feels made for them. Opi and the controls that appear as needed do most of that.
No. Instead of a prompt box that rewards people who already know what to type, Freelogo asks what the business is and who it is for in plain words, and translates that internally. Writing good prompts stops being the thing that separates a good logo from a bad one.
Yes. Controls are disclosed progressively. A founder in a hurry never meets a setting, while someone who wants control finds fonts, weight, width and colour at the point they go looking. The assistant, Opi, can regenerate a selection or suggest colours, and changes can be undone.
Because it produces endless variety. Components, states and rules keep thousands of generated logos and business cards coherent and export-ready. Without them, Freelogo would only turn out one-off images. With them, its output holds together in every format a small business needs.
