Welcome to Lincoln's Historic Hangover Factory

Serving liquid courage since 14-something, this ancient watering hole on Steep Hill has watched Lincoln's historic dramas unfold for centuries. Step inside where the floors tilt, the ceiling threatens tall people, and ghosts probably judge your drink choice.

Old-world charm, new-world sensibility

Today, the pub embraces its rich heritage with the iconic red cardinal brand and traditional decor. While this charm keeps the regulars’ favourite stools warm, a new wave of modern punters bring fresh energy to it’s historic walls.

A Tipple for Every Generation

Cardinals Hat needed menus as characterful as the pub itself. So… we bridged worlds: connecting the old guard with their rain-scented dogs to beard-stroking hipsters analysing their microbrews. Our design united six centuries of drinkers—from ale loyalists to those who photograph pints before sipping them.
